Today, I want to talk about something we all cherish, yet
also struggle with so often. It is so important, that I will write it on this
sketchboard. Here is a challenge, see if you can read faster than I can write,
in other words, try to guess what this word is as I fill in the blanks...
(Fill in LIFE)
Unfortunately, we cannot ALWAYS be happy. Every
so often, we lose (give a recent example where the host team lost...).
Not only do we lose sometimes in sports, but also in life as well.
If we lose often enough, we become an official member of a group commonly
called, the LOSERS. The reaction of
society to such people usually is: GET A LIFE. Well, today I want to propose
just this to all of you. You may say: 'Wait a minute, I am not a loser!' Hold
on, because it is not for us to judge ourselves - this privilege belongs to our
maker! Did I really live up to his expectations?? But we are not here to hear
"bad news" only, but I want to show you how you can not only "get
a life", but get E.T. life (extraterrestrial = supernatural = eternal
Life!). Wouldn't that make you a
WINNER?
No one in this world can produce E.T. life.
No business can, and no guru
can either! You may ask, how is this possible? Let me draw a quick miracle for
all of you. I will paint your portrait (everybody's!!) onto this board with this
brush in just 1/2 minute and you will all recognize yourself! Do you think this
is possible? To allow me to concentrate, please be very quiet - thank you! (Scan
the audience for head shape / eyes etc.) When the skull is done explain: I did
not promise to paint you in the present, I painted a future picture of us all!
No one will be able to differentiate Tom from Pete at that time. Before God, we
are all the same and we all one day will have to die. That was exactly your
comment - eternal life is impossible. Let me explain how God makes it available
for all of us!
(Downward arrow!) He sent his son Jesus Christ to become the payment for our
rebellion against Him! Yes Christ lived that perfect life we should have lived
and did not, yet we put away with him (vertical arrow!). But this did not come
as a surprise to God! He actually planned it - for only the righteous could
carry the penalty for the sins of the unrighteous. If Christ would have sinned
just once - he would have been punished for his own failure and could not have
carried ours. Aren't you glad that He did not give in when tempted in the
wilderness by the biggest looser in the whole universe?!! Can you guess who that
is? (Start filling in DEVIL from the back). Yes he sure is the biggest loser.
Even though he will live for ever, too � but not in the presence of God
(which must be Heaven!) but by himself in hell. And if you want to you can join
him.... I sure propose today that you may become a WINNER! All you have to do is
to accept what Jesus Christ has done (4 U) on the cross. After that He rose from
the dead conquering death as well! His blood is so precious (splash the hands on
the cross). Just think about the terrible pain Jesus suffered for you! What an
amazing love and what amazing grace. Talk to us if you would like to make peace
with your Creator God!
(Of course all the words are prepared half as well as the 4 U)
